Kevin's Throttle Lock Installation
| The throttle lock kit as it arrived. Instructions, lock assy., plastic washer and small keychain tool to adjust the lock (nice idea!). |
This rivet caused problems for me. Sticking out and binding against the washer on one side and the throttle housing on the other. Also, I found the clear plastic washer to thin and flexible. |
| I ground the rivet head down (both sides) and also made a new washer from a small piece of teflon. It was much more rigid and had a smoother surface. I sprayed both sides of the washer and the right hand side of the lock with T-Lube, a clear dry lubricant. |
Here I used a coat hanger to break the seal on the grip and move it out enough to install the lock. I also shaved about 1/4" of rubber off the end where the cap goes on since you move the grip out by that much at least. |

| Here you can see the lock sits much more snug against the throttle housing. The new teflon washer is to the right of the lock and also fits nicer. I just had to move the grip in tighter (not too tight) and let it sit for a bit to regain the adhesion to the sleeve again. |
Finished throttle lock viewed from the rear. Looks very unobtrusive and almost like factory installed. |
