Kevin's Throttle Lock Installation

The throttle lock kit as it arrived. Instructions, lock assy., plastic washer and small keychain tool to adjust the lock (nice idea!). This rivet caused problems for me. Sticking out and binding against the washer on one side and the throttle housing on the other. Also, I found the clear plastic washer to thin and flexible.

I ground the rivet head down (both sides) and also made a new washer from a small piece of teflon. It was much more rigid and had a smoother surface. I sprayed both sides of the washer and the right hand side of the lock with T-Lube, a clear dry lubricant. Here I used a coat hanger to break the seal on the grip and move it out enough to install the lock. I also shaved about 1/4" of rubber off the end where the cap goes on since you move the grip out by that much at least.

Here you can see the lock sits much more snug against the throttle housing. The new teflon washer is to the right of the lock and also fits nicer. I just had to move the grip in tighter (not too tight) and let it sit for a bit to regain the adhesion to the sleeve again. Finished throttle lock viewed from the rear. Looks very unobtrusive and almost like factory installed.
