I would have to bet after all that pushing, the bike would feel like it had a new lift - no matter how long you waited from after the pushing.

These batteries ARE like car batteries in the fact that you should not have to add acid to them or top them up. It should be a maintaince free battery. The shop I go to do not even stock the factory battery. They stock the factory battery without the Honda label on it. "YUASA" makes the factory battery for the ace, and you can order a replacement YUASA battery for the ace for cheeper that a Honda YUASA battery. Go figure. I have heard so many good reports on the factory battery. I chose to spend the bit of money and get another battery that will last. Besides, I saved over the "Honda" one anyways.

Take a look at the factory batteries, and you will see the big YUASA label.

My 2 cents,
Zero.

battery in it now, I'm not sure if it's the factory or not, but after the charge, seems like the battery is fine. Thinking now it might just need new spark plugs. USually the rear header is normally hotter then the front one, but after running it the other day and still having the issues after the battery charge, I felt and after about the 15 minutesw or so that I was out, the front was to hot to touch which would be expected, lol, but the rear was only warm/hot but I could touch it and not instantly burn myself...

not sure when I'll get a chance to do teh spark plugs, since after next weekend I'll have the boys for hte summer plus I am waiting to find out where I'll be heading next for work, as right now I'll only be in Yuma til mid to end of June most likely.

You have a problem. This will need to be addressed by the Honda shop (IMO).

Took the biek in yesterday since I was already there to pick up spark plugs and a new air filter. I took the old one off and it had a bit of grime under it and was really oily though.

Anyways, had them go ahead and put the spark plugs in since they didn't have the honda spark plug socket in stock. While there I told em about hte problem with starting and struggling to get power after shifts.

Front plugs looked pretty decent but back ones were pretty nasty, with the back cylinder running really rich. They adjsuted the carb a little bit and did some manual/external tinkering and bike is running a bit better but still running really rich in teh rear and blows a bit of black smoke and what looks like fuel out the rear.

It still runs and is rideable. Said they'd proably need more time and work to fully adjsut hte carbs and all properly but don't have the money right now. I also haven't ridden my bike much since it started having issues and only put abotu 100 miles or so on it since they did the last oil change a few weeks ago, but while checking on everythign they also discovered that they'd put to much oil in at teh oil change and had to drain a bit, lol.

with the adjustments and new plugs it's atleast running better then it was and not struggling near as bad and can almost shift smoothly so I just won't plan to do any long rides and once I have money saved up will get it taken into a honda certified mechanic to adjsut properly.

Would it be easier though to just pick up a new carb? Found carbs as cheap as $80 on ebay and other sites?????

The to much oil may have been the problem to begin with.

I'm not sure on a motorcycle engine, but I know if you over fill an engine with oil, it can force oil to blow by the rings and into the combustion chamber.

Too much blow by can foul plugs.

The fairly small amount of oil an ACE hold (2-1/2 qts) doesn't leave much room for error. If they put in an extra 1/2 to full quart, that would, could cause it. Though, you would see and smell oil burning.

Sounds more like bad/dirty fuel, you did mention you had filled up on Sat. just prior to this problem starting? I'd try draining some fuel out through the float bowl drains, catch it in a clean jar or something, see if it has any water or dirt? Switch the tank petcock to reserve then drain a half gallon or more through to flush the lower part of the tank and maybe wash out what got into the carbs if anything. The bad fuel making it hard to start could have finished off a marginal battery also.

Oil over-filled can also cause strange troubles like mentioned above, Or it may not have actually been over-filled, but the carb floats stuck or jammed with junk and fuel leaking past and running down in to the crankcase, raising the level. ( I learned that one the hard way,,,) pull the dipstick, check for strong fuel smell out of the crankcase. Honda dealer should have noticed that though,,,

I had too much oil once, and it caused adverse shifting. Do/did you have any issues with changing gears (kinda stiff/sticking/slamming into gear)?

Zero.

I did notice it a bit but that's gone now. I looked at the spark plugs against he spark plug chart on that one 750 website (can't remember the link) and they were a dry black. So figured just like the mechanic said, ti's running rich. Just don't have the money to do anything about it now, and plan to be moving at the end of the month, so odds are I'll put some fuel stabilizer in and just store it fora bit til I find out where i'm going next, etc. etc.

If you do do that route, be sure to run the bike for a bit to get the fuel with the stabilizer into the carbs.

Best of luck,

Zero.

Completly drain the tank and if you havnt cleaned the fuel sock (in the tank) now is the time. I wouldnt trust fuel stabilizer for 10 bucks worth of gas and your problem is costing you riding time. Make sure you drain the float bowls when you put the new, fresh fuel in also. Make sure you sync the carbs and re adjust your idle this will help to optimize your fuel/ air ratio and hopefully get you to running smooth.
