Thanks for the reminder.

Good catch, well into to the fabric, just a stop away from the big bang.

How many miles on those and what were they?

hi

so they were bridge stone exedras.

my buddy had the bike for a few years so am unsure of the mileage.   At max they have 12K miles on them.

and yes i am not sure why i did not catch this sooner.   especially when i had the tire off in November when i replaced the water pump.

i have only put about 700 miles on the bike since then.

Don't know anything about the Bridgestone Exedra tire, but I run the Bridgestone G701 and G702 on my Honda Shadow and easily get 20,000 miles out of the rear tire.   the front still has a lot of tread but I change them both at the same time just to be safe.  My XJ700N has the Dunlap tires on it and they seem to be doing ok. They were on the bike when I got it with about 11,000 miles and I now have almost 18,000.  I still have tread but it is beginning to show wear.   I'll be changing them in about 2000 miles and planed to go to the Bridgestone.  May rethink that now.

i went online and looked at some photos of the bridge stone exedra's,

i recall the center line of the tires were bald when i got the bike.  plenty of tread on the sides.

i was just a matter of time that they wore out.

anyway, new tires installed, hope to ride the bike this afternoon

Look for the triangles or the letters TWI on the side walls to find the wear bars in the tread pattern

A good article with decent pictures on finding the wear bars and their condition.

https://thebikersgar...tire-wear-bars/

So now you all know where to find the tread wear indicators in the tread or in some cases where they might have been.  (-;
